Jacquie Denby grew up in the Yorkshire Dales, something very apparent in many of her paintings where one can almost smell the wind and the wild loneliness of high moorland – with the recurring theme of a lone tree and blowing leaves.
Others inspired by spending time in Provence reflect the delicacy of spring with fruit trees blossoming and birds singing.
Denby has said she tries to distil the joys of the natural world in her work and to depict the simple and to her, most important elements of the landscape – the wind, earth, sky, moon and stars.
And the birds, symbolic of the spirits of nature lead us into her world.
